Revivez cette journée dramatique du 7 décembre 1941 lorsqu'à l'aube, les avions japonais ont attaqué par surprise la flotte américaine du Pacifique amarrée à Pearl Harbor. Les avions attaquants ont laissé derrière eux de nombreuses victimes, en particulier les marins du USS Arizona, des avions détruits et des cuirassés coulés ou endommagés. Cette attaque contre Pearl Harbor a engendré une réaction immédiate du peuple américain. Le président Roosevelt a signé la déclaration de guerre accordée par le Congrès Américain le lendemain. Même si l'attaque était presque une réussite tactique complète, aucun des 3 porte-avions qui auraient dû être à Pearl Harbor ce matin là ne s'y trouvaient, deux étant en mer et l'autre étant sur la côte ouest américaine pour des réparations. Ceux-ci se révèlèrent par la suite essentiels aux succès américains dans la guerre du Pacifique. Un géant endormi venait de s'éveiller. |

Revive this dramatic day of December 7, 1941 when at dawn, the Japanese planes attacked by surprised the American fleet of the Pacific moored in Pearl Harbor. The assailing planes left behind them many victims, in particular the sailors of the USS Arizona, planes destroyed and sink or damaged battleships. This attack counters Pearl Harbor generated an immediate reaction of the American people. President Roosevelt signed the declaration of war granted by the American Congress the following day. Even if the attack were almost a complete success tactical, none of the 3 aircraft carriers which should have been in Pearl Harbor this morning there found there, two being at sea and the other being on the American West coast for repairs. Those were révèlèrent thereafter essential with American successes in the war of the Pacific. A deadened giant had just waked up. |
